Similes compare two things. Like in this lyric "I need you like a needle needs a vein". This is a couple saying they need each other like other things need things. A needle needs a vein to work. Another simile is "I need you like Like my uncle Joe in Oklahoma needs a rain". He is explaining his uncle needs the rain because he is probably a farmer. Another one is "I need you Like a lighthouse on a coast". These are all examples of similes.
